The client’s request

The “Centrale der Werkgevers Zeebrugge”, or Cewez for short, is the social office for more than 2,000 dock workers in Zeebrugge, Ostend and Nieuwpoort. Cewez approached DENKie with a request to set up a well-being survey (psychosocial risk analysis). The aim? Greater job satisfaction for dock workers!

Our solution

To increase the response rate, DENKie developed a creative concept for the survey. We created an explanatory animated video, appealing visuals to support it, and an accessible questionnaire via our own platform and on paper.

Contribute to happiness at work

Just being presented with a questionnaire without any clear context? No, that’s not what we do at DENKie! We made a short animated video to explain the purpose of the survey and the various questions to the dock workers. Mascot Bollie presents the story and the Cewez characters depict the different work situations. This makes it very recognisable to the dock workers.

Visual stimulus

We used various visual elements, such as posters and email signatures, to encourage as many dock workers as possible to complete the survey. The visuals focused on the job satisfaction of dock workers and radiated positivity. It was made clear that everyone on the work floor would be listened to and that action points would be drawn up on that basis. All channels were used to reach the target audience as much as possible.

Clear and simple as a starting point

The survey could be completed digitally via our own DENKie platform. The platform was set up entirely in Cewez’s corporate style. As an introduction, the animated video about the survey could be viewed again, after which the survey began. DENKie ensured accessible language, clear visuals for each question and the option to add additional explanations. The result of this simplicity? The survey was terminated less often early on!

Paper survey

To boost the response rate even further, we also provided the survey in paper format. Perfect for those who are less keen on digital surveys or who may have missed the online notification. The questionnaire was attractively presented in a practical booklet.

Facts & figures

The result of DENKie and Cewez’s efforts? An increase in response rates and a general sense of success. A previous survey – without DENKie’s involvement – yielded a 7% response rate. With no fewer than 600 dock workers completing the questionnaire, we achieved a response rate of 30%!
